(Explanation of the hanging scroll design) Later Three-Year War,"Gosan-nen no eki"後三年の役

The "Later Three-Year War" was a conflict that occurred from 1083 (Eihō 3) to 1087 (Kanji 1) in the late Heian period. It was a war sparked by an internal dispute within the Kiyohara clan, rulers of the Ōshū region, which saw intervention from Minamoto no Yoshiie, the governor of Mutsu. As a result of this conflict, the Kiyohara clan was obliterated, leading to the rise of the Ōshū Fujiwara clan.
