Biographie
Takashima Hokkai (1850-1931)
Peintre japonais des périodes Meiji et Taisho.
Né à Nagato (préfecture de Yamaguchi) en 1850.
Le vrai nom était Tokuzo.
Autodidacte dans la peinture dès le plus jeune âge.
Étudié à l'Ecole des Forêtes de Nancy en France.
Après son retour au Japon, il est devenu un fonctionnaire forestier, mais a pris sa retraite en 1899.
Est devenu peintre de montagne et a remporté des prix à la Tokyo Industrial Exposition et à d'autres expositions.
Il a été juge pour l'exposition Bunten.
Il est décédé en 1931 à l'âge de 82 ans.
