Biography
Yamada Kaido (1869-1924)
Japanese painter of the Meiji and Taisho periods.
Born in Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) in 1869.
Real name is Misaburo. Also known as "Sougyoku-dojin".
Traveled around Japan and studied under Tessai Tomioka, Rissai Hosoya, Gogaku Hirano, and others.
He won many prizes at the Bunten Exhibition and founded the Japan Southern Painting Academy in 1921 with Tajika Chikuson, Ikeda Keisen, and others.
He died in 1924 at the age of 56.
