【Biografia】
Kawabata Gyokusho (1842-1913)
Tempo 13 (1842) - Taisho 2 (1913)
Era un pittore giapponese attivo nell'era Meiji. Il suo vero nome è Takinosuke.
Lo pseudonimo è Keitei, tenshindo. Un nome popolare è Shibun.
Nei suoi ultimi anni, ha cambiato il suo nome in Sho-O.
All'età di 11 anni, entrò nella scuola di Nakajima Raisho e in seguito studiò sotto Oda Kaisen.
Più tardi, si trasferì a Tokyo e studiò dipinto ad olio sotto Yuichi Takahashi e Wagman.
Ha anche ammirato Maruyama Okyo ed è diventato una figura di spicco della moderna scuola di Maruyama.
Era professore alla Tokyo Fine Arts School e istituì la Kawabata School of Art e promise la prossima generazione di artisti,
ed è stato elogiato insieme al suo collega Hashimoto Gaho.
Era un giudice alla mostra Bunten e membro dell'Associazione degli artisti domestici imperiali.
Morì nel 1913 all'età di 72 anni.
