Biografia
Kubota Tosui (1841-1911)
Pittore giapponese dell'era Meiji.
Nato a Kyoto a Tempo 12.
Studiato sotto Yokoyama Seiki e Nishiyama Hoen della scuola Shijo.
Nel 1902, mostrò "Carp at Play" alla Universal Exhibition of Fine Arts in Italia.
Morì nel 1911 all'età di 71 anni.

Waka-Ayu (un giovane dolce pesce) significa che Ayu, nato in autunno, è cresciuto e è salito sul fiume all'inizio della primavera. La stagione è la tarda primavera.
