*Yokoyama Seiki (1792-1864) examined and authenticated this surviving work by his late master, Keibun.
・It has been re-mounted several decades ago. (Since a white line is visible down the center of the painting, it is believed that the work was originally part of an album and was later remounted as a hanging scroll.)

Remarks
・Roller ends are Wooden.
・There is no signature on the box.

Matsumura Keibun (1779-1843)

Painter of the late Edo period.
Born in An'ei 8 (1779). Half-brother of Matsumura Gekkei (Goshun).
Excelled at elegant paintings of flowers and birds. After the death of his brother,
he became a central figure in the Shijo School.
Died in 1843 at the age of 65.
Born in Kyoto. His nickname was Shiso. A popular name is Kaname.
The pseudonym is Kakei,Go-keibun.

Yokoyama Seiki (1792-1864)

Painter of the Shijo School in the late Edo period. Born in Kyoto.
His first name was Kizou. A popular name is Seibun,Kibun.
Also known as Shume and Shosuke.
The pseudonym is Kajo.
Studied under Matsumura Keibun, and excelled at painting flowers and birds, landscapes, and figures.
Died in 1864 at the age of 73.
