【Biografia】
Suzuki Kason (1860-1919)
Pittore giapponese attivo durante i periodi di Meiji e Taisho.
Nato nel 1860 a Shitaya, Edo.
Il suo nome era Shigeo. Conosciuto anche come Sotaro.
Lo pseudonimo è Kason, Gyoyu, Ninsei.
Studiato sotto Nakajima Kohsai e Kikuchi Yosai.
Nel 1877 (Meiji 10), si unì alla società Kiritsu Kosho. Ha lavorato come designer di ceramica e lacca.
Nel 1889, divenne insegnante responsabile della pittura e del design presso la Ishikawa Industrial School.
Nel 1900, mostrò il suo lavoro all'Esposizione mondiale di Parigi e ricevette una medaglia di bronzo.
Nel 1901, vinse la medaglia d'argento per "Peony Sleeping Cat" alla 5a mostra in dieci nella primavera del 1901.
Nel 43 ° anno dell'era Meiji (1910), mostrò "attraversare il fiume sotto la pioggia" all'esposizione giapponese-britannica e gli fu assegnata la medaglia d'oro.
All'inizio del XX secolo, era considerato in Europa come il più noto pittore giapponese dalla Hokusai.
Morì nel 1919 all'età di 59 anni.
