Biography

Matsumura Keibun (1779-1843)

Painter of the late Edo period.
Born in An'ei 8 (1779). Half-brother of Matsumura Gekkei (Goshun). 
Excelled at elegant paintings of flowers and birds. After the death of his brother, 
he became a central figure in the Shijo School.
Died in 1843 at the age of 65. 
Born in Kyoto. His nickname was Shiso. A popular name is Kaname. 
The pseudonym is Kakei,Go-keibun.
