Biography
Baba Keisen (1888-1954)

Born in 1888 (Meiji 21) and died in 1954 (Showa 29).
His given name was Tosaburo, and he also used the pseudonym Kyukosei.
A native of Nishi-Ueda in Kagawa Prefecture.
He studied painting for over ten years under Imao Keinen of the Kyoto Shijo school.
Alongside Kojima Sakaeya and Imai Keiju, he was entrusted with the secret techniques of coloration and became a successor of the school.
He served as a judge for the Kagawa Prefectural Exhibition.
In his later years, he lived in Fujizuka-cho, Takamatsu City, where he particularly excelled at painting peacocks.
He also pursued bonsai, pottery, and painting ceramics, leading a refined and multifaceted life.
