【Biografie】
Nakabayashi Chikutou (1776-1853)
An'ei 5 (1776) - Ka'ei 6 (1853)
Literaire schilder van de late Edo -periode. Geboren in Owari (huidige westelijke helft van de prefectuur Aichi).
Naam: Seisho, Shosei. Zijn bijnaam was Hakumei. Het pseudoniem is Chikutou, Chu-Tan.
Bestudeerd onder Yamada Kyujo van Nagoya. Later ontving hij het beschermheerschap van Kamiya Tenyu, een rijke koopman, en werkte er hard aan om daar oude schilderijen te kopiëren.
Op 27 -jarige leeftijd verhuisde hij naar Kyoto. Hij bestudeerde Yuan- en Ming -dynastie -schilderijen en blonk uit in landschapsschilderen.
Hij stierf op 78 -jarige leeftijd.
