Biography
Itabashi Koshu (1927-2020)

Born in Miyagi Prefecture. Former head of Sojiji Temple and former head of Soto Zen.
Chief abbot of Gotanjoji Temple. Studied under Zen Master Watanabe Genshu.
Trained at Sojiji Temple.
In 1998, he became the 23rd head abbot of Sojiji Temple and the head abbot of Soto Zen.
His Dharma name is Kangetsu-sokushin-zenshi.He is 93 years old.

Main Meaning

"Shakamuni nyorai/Shakamunibutsu (gautama siddhartha、gautama buddha)"

Shakyamuni Buddha is the name given to the historically real Buddha and founder of Buddhism, Shakyamuni.
