Biography
Maki Ozan(?-?)

Painter active from the Meiji period to the early Showa period.
Born in Oita Prefecture. The name is Minoru.
The year of his birth and death is unknown.

A word from the store
This painter is by no means a famous painter. Moreover, very few details are known. However, the skill with which the peacock can be drawn in such detail and the quality of the paints used are astounding.
In particular, the natural mineral pigments Gunjo (blue) and Rokusho (green) are very expensive materials, so they have been and are extremely valuable pigments.
In addition, the motifs of peacock and peony are both auspicious designs.
Haruou(春王) is written in the upper right corner of the signature. Haruou means "New Year/spring season".
This is a piece that can be enjoyed not only in spring, but all year round and for any celebration.
