Biography
Takahashi Deishu (1835-1903)

A shogunate vassal in the late Edo period. His first name was Masaaki, and his nickname was Kanmou.
His childhood name was Kenzaburo. His nickname was Seiichi. The pseudonym is was Deishu.
A master of spear fighting. He was a professor of Kobusho.
After the battles of Toba and Fushimi, he insisted on reverential house arrest and served as a bodyguard for Shogun Yoshinobu.
In the closing years of the Tokugawa shogunate, he was also involved in the formation and supervision of the Shinchōgumi, a security force of the Edo Bakufu, and played a central role among the shogunate’s swordsmen.
Along with Kaishu Katsu and Tesshu Yamaoka, he was called one of the "Three Ships of the Last Days of the Tokugawa Shogunate(Bakumatsu-sanshu)".
Tesshu Yamaoka is his brother-in-law.
