Hanging scrolls with this kind of design often depict small birds together, but there are no small animals in this painting.
The artist may have wanted to express the beauty and vitality of this maple by depicting nothing but it.
At the bottom of the painting, there are brushstrokes in ochre paint that look like rain. Or, it seems to represent the rustling of the wind.
Unfortunately, the original paulownia box is missing, and the title of this painting is unknown. Also, there are some fraying on the cover.
