・Roller ends is Bone.
*The shaft tip has been changed from ivory to bone. (Ivory cannot be exported).
・Shouji Chikushin(1854-1936, A disciple of Zeshin and one of Zeshin's official connoisseurs.) appraised the piece and signed the box.
・This work is guaranteed authentic.

Biography
Shibata Zeshin(1807-1891)
 
Japanese painter and lacquer artist of the late Edo and Meiji periods.
Exhibited his works at domestic and international expositions and painting competitions.
He gained fame in both lacquerware and painting.
In 1890, he became an Imperial Household Artist.
Died in 1891 at the age of 85.

Shouji Chikushin(1854-1936)
 
Japanese painter and lacquer artist of the Meiji and early Showa periods.
The pseudonym is Kakan-an,Seisei-ken.
Studied painting, maki-e, and lacquer painting under Shibata Zeshin.
Awarded prizes at the National Exhibition of Painting in Japan.
