【Biography】
Tayama Honan (1903-1980)

Inspector of National Treasures, Ministry of Education. Born in Mie Prefecture in 1903. First name Nobuo.
The names of the seals are "Honan, Toan, Tayama Shin, Tayama Nobuo," etc.
As a leading researcher on Japanese and Chinese Zen monks and their calligraphy, he has been involved for many years in the designation of national treasures and important cultural properties.
He is the author of Zenrin Bokuseki and other works. Died in 1980 at the age of 77.

【Main Meaning】
"Ryusho"

A word to pray for the eternal peace of this world and the longevity of its people. It is said that dragons have the power to bring rain and fly to the heavens on the clouds they create. In China, the dragon is considered sacred as one of the four spirits along with the phoenix, qilin and tortoise. The appearance of the dragon is the most significant. The dragon represents superiority over other things. In Buddhism, the dragon is one of the Eight Buddhas who assist the Buddha in his preaching and teaching. In Zen Buddhism, the dragon means an enlightened person or a chief priest of a Buddhist temple. It is also said that when one attains enlightenment, one sees a dragon flying.
