From the store
This is a very well drawn illustration of a group of cranes by the Kano school.

There is only a seal in the lower right corner, but the details are unknown.
However, the way rocks, cranes, and pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms are drawn is in the Kano school style.

When I actually counted the cranes, there were 104. (There may be some errors.)
This is speculation, but the original owner (or a close relative) may have asked him to draw as many cranes as his age to celebrate his longevity.

Also, if you look at the fabric on the top and bottom of the cover, it looks shorter than normal. This is because the original owner (probably from a later generation) could not display the hanging scroll in the alcove of his house if it remained in its original size, so he asked a mounting shop to cut it short.
I think it was originally over 230cm long.
Additionally, the cover itself appears to be from a later period (early 1900s) than the painted image.

In any case, considering the amount of time and effort it takes to draw the cranes and the background with such great care, it must have taken more effort than I imagined.
When you see the real thing, you will be amazed at the skill of the ancient painters who were able to draw each crane with its different movements.
